We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas day with Gramma, Papa, Uncle Jeffrey, and Uncle Jesse. Santa Claus left presents while we were out for a drive looking at Christmas lights. Jack raced into the living room and picked out the biggest present and said "this one is Jack's right?" He patiently waited for everyone to get their pj's on, and then the opening began.

Santa left a present "for the little play kitchen" which turned out to be a play mixer. After every single present he opened, Jack had to go back to the mixer and stir his 'muffin mix' up again. Uncle Jeffrey couldn't figure out why Jack would rather mix muffins than play with his new tractors.

Jack opened a present from Uncle Jeffrey and when we asked him what it was he said "uncle Jeffrey got me beer!"

Turns out it was really a John Deere Skidsteer, with a Pabst beer carton covering for easy wrapping.

Jacey got some really neat trucks of her own, so hopefully now that she's crawling, she won't have to keep stealing Jack's.

Jack, Jacey, Brynna, Chase and Drew about ready to be done with Christmas for today.

Also, start childproofing! Jacey crawled across the room today to get one of Jack's mittens. Who knew that would be the motivator!

Jacey's stats at 9 months:
18 lbs 9 oz (40%)
27 1/4" (40%)

We still see Santa every day at the mall when we go to walk. I usually say, "Hey Jack, it's Santa, should we wave and say 'Hi'?" So that's what we do, we wave and say hi to Santa. Yesterday we were walking next to Santa's chair and it was almost time for him to be starting through the line of kids waiting to sit on his lap. The line happened to be shorter than normal, so I asked Jack if he wanted to sit on Santa's lap. He thought a minute and then said, "No mommy, I just wave and say hi." Santa happened to hear us as we walked by, so he laughed and stepped out of the Santa booth to talk to Jack and Jacey. He asked Jack for a 'high five', which Jack gave him with a big smile. Jack told Santa that "Jacey was too little to give high fives and that we were just walking around and around the mall and not sitting on his lap but just saying hi." Santa laughed again and gave everyone another round of fives and then told us to have a Merry Christmas and that he'd see us again tomorrow when we were walking.

Today after diaper changes, we sitting around and Jack started pointing to parts on his body and asking what they were. We pointed to his feet and toes, his elbows, shoulders, ribs, hips, knees, and when I pointed out his thighs, he said "NO mommy, that's not my thigh, that's my TICKLE SPOT."

I made Jack some felt food to cook with on his tool bench. I realize that sentence sounds funny, but since his tool bench has a sink, apparently it qualifies as a full kitchen also. Anyway, he has felt eggs, toast, lemons (for our tea), tomato slices, and ravioli. His favorite thing to do with the ravioli is balance it on Jacey's head. Jacey likes to actually try to eat the ravioli when served.

For Christmas, a friend gave Jack a pink pig that oinks when you squeeze his ear. Jack doesn't go anywhere lately without his pig, which he has named "Mr Oinkerson." We had to wrap Mr Oinkerson all up in the blue blanket and then tuck him in next to Jack for nap. Jack told me, "I'm going to talk to Mr Oinkerson until he falls asleep, but I won't let him oink in my ear, Mommy. His oinkin' is too loud when I'm sleepin'."

Jack has started asking "why?" to everything. EVERYTHING. Of course he remembers what I answered him the last time he asked, and if I answer differently than I have the last 37 times, he will correct me. He also likes to ask tricky questions about various cables, or computer things, or cars, which I do not have a deep knowledge of. When I answer to the best of my ability, he will correct me with a "No mommy, daddy said it was a USB cable, not a computer cable." Oh. Fine then, get all specific.

Over Thanksgiving we were at Granny and Grumps' house. Jack was playing with his trucks on the floor, talking to himself. He drove a dump truck over to a skid steer and he said, "Ok Bill, fill me up! I need a big load of dirt, ok Bill? Bill, am I full yet? Ok Bill, going to dump my load." We all looked at each other thinking, "Who is Bill?" Apparently Bill is the 'load guy' (in Jack's words). Anyway, the next time Jack started talking to "Bill", Grumps answered him from the kitchen in a funny voice. Jack looked around at first, and then played along, asking Bill all sorts of questions. After that, Jack would occasionally go find Grumps and say "Hey Bill, what you doing?"
Today Jack was playing cars and I asked him where Bill was. He said, "Bill is working on his Oshkosh Truck at Granny and Grumps' house."

Auntie Rose visited over Thanksgiving. When she first arrived, we were all sitting at the table eating Granny's birthday cake. She was peppering Jack with all sorts of questions, which he wasn't answering because he was concentrating so hard on his cake. Finally, he looked at her and said "Don't talk to me I'm busy eatin' right now." and then continued to plow through his cake.
Jack also likes to ask if it's "five thirty o' clock yet" because that is when we usually eat. Today I was using a tape measure, and after I set it down, he picked it up. He was measuring the laundry basket, so I asked him how big it was. Without skipping a beat he said, "It's five thirty feet long."
Jacey is doing great, but she's not so talkative yet.
